DIY Rustic Easter Centerpiece

It is Spring! Which means a lot in our household. First is my brother-in-laws birthday, my husbands aunt and uncle (twins) birthday, my oldest, dearest friends birthday, my birthday, my niece/goddaughters birthday (day after mine), my husbands birthday and Easter. It’s a whole Spring holiday season for us. I am excited to start decorating for hosting many events at our home in the coming months.

Here is one of, what will be, multiple table centerpieces we’ll be putting out through the Spring season. It was simple to make and looks festive and rustic on our kitchen counter bar top.

Supplies are all found at local craft store. Tin garden planter, orange yarn, four styrofoam cones, a stem of tall artificial grass, two packages of moss, a Spring scented candle, and plastic painted eggs. I also used a small empty amazon box to prop the candle up (not found at craft store).

Step 1: hardest part of this is making the carrots, which you can buy already made fabric carrots at the craft store but I found them to be a bit pricey and just made my own. First step is to cut 3 inch strips of your orange yarn. You will need about 15 to 20 pieces. This is cover the top of the cone. You don’t even need to glue this part, it should stick to the styrofoam.

Step 2: wrap the yarn around the cone. Start by gluing the yarn and then wrap around the dangling top strips of yarn. Once the top loose strips are covered, continue down the entire cone, gluing the yarn at the end.

Step 3: cut your tall pieces of grass off stem, tie the pieces of grass together with a small piece of orange yarn and glue on to center of the top, flat part of cone. Repeat steps 1-3 for as many carrots as you want. I made four.

Step 4: fill tin planter with moss. I added a small empty amazon box I had to elevate my candle, you could also buy green styrofoam and use that if needed. Place candle and carrots in tin arrange moss around them. Toss the plastic eggs on top.
